SIG Jet d’Eau

The Client
SIG (Services Industriels de Genève) is the leading provider of energy services in the Canton of Geneva. Attentive to their environmental footprint and concerned with the customer experience, they already have mobile applications for tracking the energy consumption of private households. They also operate and maintain Geneva’s famous Jet d’eau fountain on Lake Geneva.

The Challenge
On an annual basis, the water jet is shut down for several weeks to ensure its smooth operation. It is also stopped when the winds are too strong. This creates frustration and disappointment for tourists and occasional visitors.
THE SIG therefore wanted to offer an augmented reality alternative via a mobile application. After numerous technical tests and the development of an initial prototype application, Swiss Tomato developed the augmented reality mobile application.

The Solution
Swiss Tomato worked on the 3D modelling of the Jet d’eau fountain, and then created a mobile application to provide a complete user experience.
The mobile application, developed with native technology, features a 3D model of the Jet d’eau fountain that the users can play with. They can change the direction of the wind, and therefore the orientation of the fountain, and change the colors to get a closer look at the evening illuminations, and even take a photo! The mobile app also includes information on the history of the Jet d’eau, some practical details, an audioguide and even a short quiz to test your knowledge.

The Results
The collaboration between SIG and Swiss Tomato has led to the creation of an innovative application, highlighting a strong element of Geneva’s image and generating positive feedback both internally and from visitors to the Jet d’eau.
