Diginomica
The Client
A media platform focused on delivering IT news to a global enterprise audience. The site, which had been running on WordPress (specifically diginomica.com), needed modernization through a strategic migration to Drupal.
The Challenge
- The existing WordPress setup had architectural limitations and performance issues.
- The editorial backend and navigation structure were clunky and in need of simplification.
- The platform relied heavily on third-party integrations and plugins, complicating updates and performance.
The Solution
- Migrated the site from WordPress to Drupal 8, maintaining visual consistency for users but completely overhauled the backend for performance and scalability.
- Reorganised navigation and content structure, removing unnecessary features to streamline performance.
- Enhanced the editorial experience with a cleaner, more intuitive backend UI that surpassed Drupal’s default interface, including built-in workflow management for external editors.
Integrated and optimised numerous third-party services and tools, such as Contextly (for content suggestions), Yoast (SEO), Thunder admin theme, Iframely (media), Algolia (search), AMP (mobile performance), Disqus (comments), Parse.ly (analytics), and Google Analytics Reporting API for dynamic “Best of” lists.
Results
The migration delivered exceptional improvements thanks to our partner Brainsum:
“Some @diginomica site stats for the nerds — now running 78 % faster (close to Google speed), traffic up 15–16 % consistently, bounce rate down 3.5 %, thanks to @BrainsumCOM” — Den Howlett, Founder of Diginomica
This quote captures the measurable success in performance, traffic growth, and user engagement—all achieved while providing editors with a robust and efficient backend.
