The Client<\/h2>\r\n

The <\/span>Global Disability Summit (GDS)<\/b>, an initiative under the leadership of the <\/span>International Disability Alliance (IDA)<\/b>, is a pivotal international event aimed at advancing the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities. The Summit serves as a platform to bring together governments, civil society organisations, disability rights groups, and other key stakeholders to make ambitious commitments towards achieving equality and inclusion for the global disability community.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Held every few years, the GDS provides a unique space for dialogue, accountability, and action. It highlights the pressing challenges faced by persons with disabilities, such as barriers to education, employment, healthcare, and political participation, while showcasing innovative solutions to address them. The Summit encourages stakeholders to pledge concrete, measurable commitments that promote accessibility, non-discrimination, and empowerment in their respective sectors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

The Challenge<\/h2>\r\n

The Global Disability Summit needed a website where they can communicate the importance of the work they do, as well as share information with the public regarding their events, registration to the summit as well as its programs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

The Solution<\/h2>\r\n

Swiss Tomato developed a WordPress website<\/a> which explains who GDS is and shares lots of resources of past events and reports gathered. It also communicates the different events, regional summits, civil society forum events as well as the Global Disability Summit programs. Registration for these events can be accessed through the website.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Accessibility<\/span><\/h3>\n

The new GDS website is not only colourful and user friendly, it also encompasses special accessibility features which allow persons with disabilities to easily understand and connect with the website. These include changing the font size, the colours and buttons, as well as a text to speech function and easy navigation using a keyboard. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

Results<\/h2>\r\n

Through a collaborative and results-driven approach, the GDS aims to create a world where persons with disabilities have equal opportunities to participate, contribute, and thrive in society, driving the global movement toward true inclusivity and social justice.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n
